We welcomed Zulfikri Mohamad into our vocational programme after he graduated from a secondary school called Sekolah Menengah Panji, Kota Bharu in Kelantan for special education needs. Prior to enrolling him into specific classes, Zulfikri was assessed to discover his vocational potential. In spite of his learning disability, he displayed a wide range of abilities and accomplished any task that was assigned to him.
Under a collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), he was put under the Intellectual Disabled Job Training Programme where he has been exposed to real-world tasks. After successfully completing the programme, he began a pre-employment programme, also known as ‘job site training’, at Pasaraya KO Ummah in Kelantan. Here, trainees are assigned roles that have been identified to suit them. Regular assessment is carried out to monitor trainees’ performance at work.
The YOKUK team is very proud of what Zulfikri has achieved so far and we hope that he continues to find more success in his future.
